Ainoya Japanese, Kirribilli

Ainoya is a cosy, casual Japanese Eatery, perfect for a meal with friends in Kirribilli

Ainoya is located in Kirribilli and is a few minutes away from Milson's Point Station. It's a small restaurant with chairs and tables but also the traditional Japanese seating where you take your shoes off and climb into the seat at floor level (although there's a hole in the floor to sit properly).

It was quite a busy night and they didn't seem to have enough staff on. The food must be good as more people started lining up outside. To share, I ordered the Sashimi Main (14 pieces for $28) which had ocean trout, king fish, tuna and scallops.

I also couldn't resist a side of Karrage Chicken ($12). Crispy fried chicken is always a crowd favourite. It was tasty and came in a portion of 4 pieces which didn't quite seem enough but the pieces were reasonably sized.

Finally, I ordered the Sukiyaki Wagyu Beef dish with a side of rice ($27). The beef was very tender and the broth was very flavoursome. I'd recommend this dish as a main. Corkage is $3.50 per person so feel free to bring a bottle of wine.

A nice Japanese eatery in Kirribilli. I'd also suggest Rengaya in North Sydney as well if you are in the area.

Prices: $40 per person
