Jamaica Blue, Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park

Jamaica Blue is an Australian café franchise renowned for
quality coffee and surprisingly good breakfast and lunch options. Strong value for money!

Melle and Dazz discover Jamaica Blue’s flagship cafe at
Entertainment Quarter, on a winter Sunday morning to try
their new seasonal menu.  Despite the chilly weather, we were warmly greeted by staff member Helena, and seated at a cosy table indoors.

Coffee:
We started with our favourite coffees, a regular soy latte
($3.70) and large cappuccino ($4.50) in the Jamaica Blue
Signature Blend. Both were perfectly roasted with a smooth creamy froth, accompanied with a delicious chocolate cookie. Happy days!

For the soy latte fans, you’ll also be delighted that Jamaica
Blue provide soy and almond milk at no extra cost (that’s
unheard of in Sydney - and for VitaSoy too!). In addition
the generous sized latte includes a cardboard wraparound
so the glass isn’t too hot to handle.

We didn’t try their premium Organic blends, or Blue Mountains blend, though the staff members spoke very
highly of particularly the Blue Mountains blend.

Food:
The Avocado Smash and Maple Bacon ($15.90) is a
surprisingly generous serve, with 2 slices of chunky
sourdough bread, loaded with crispy maple bacon, and
balanced with a rustic and flavoursome blend of avocado
and tomato (almost like a chunky guacamole). Topped off
with a nicely poached egg and coriander. Our favourite
dish of the day.

We were keen to try their innovative Sourdough Crumpets
($11.90) with two versions of savoury toppings, as it’s not
often we see crumpets on a café menu.

The sourdough crumpets tasted similar to the original
crumpets, with a nice fluffy texture, just a bit more
substantial. There were 2 sourdough crumpets under a
mountain of velvety scrambled eggs, avocado, pesto,
spinach and pine nuts. Outstanding value for money this
dish! Our only suggestion for improvement is perhaps a
side of tomato relish to add some zing and contrast to the
creaminess.

The Vintage Ground Beef Burger ($17.50) from the lunch
menu, was a nice old school burger with a modern twist.

The star of the burger was the generous meat patty
seasoned with onions, good ol’ bacon, cheese, pickle, aioli
on a crisp brioche bun with a fresh salad on the side. A
very nostalgic burger that was filling, though not too
heavy.

Last though not least, we somehow fit in a homemade
Dark Chocolate and Walnut Brownie ($5.00) with cream
and strawberry. A classic and decadent brownie, though
we preferred it to be a cooked a fraction longer, to have a
bit more texture and firmness.

Atmosphere:
The ambience from our cosy table indoors was bright, homely and contemporary, with a spacious layout that easily accommodated prams.

The outside courtyard was also well equipped with ample
tables, shade umbrellas, heaters, and even an adorable
‘pooch parking’ area, complete with leash holders and dog
bowls.

In addition, the Entertainment Quarter offers 2 hours free
parking, with ample spaces on Sunday morning, thus an
ideal venue for weekend catchups with a group of friends.

Highlights: The customer service was a clear standout
with consistently friendly, knowledgeable and attentive
staff. Our visit well exceeded expectations with premium coffee and quality food, strong value for money portions, and 2 hours of free parking.

The Avocado Smash and Maple Bacon for breakfast was
our favourite, though all coffees and dishes were all of a
consistent high standard.

On a side note, a huge congratulations to Jamaica Blue
whom are celebrating their 10 th anniversary as an
Australian franchise. From humble beginnings in Miranda,
Sydney, Jamaica Blue now has over 140+ franchises
internationally and growing.

Location: 122 Lang Road, Moore Park. Situated on the
corner of the restaurants area next to Muffin Break.
