Dulcet Cakes and Sweets, Burwood

Dulcet Cakes and Sweets is an Asian Dessert Eatery located in Burwood. I often find Asian desserts more subtle in sweetness compared to Western desserts. I'm enjoying the Asian flavours that seem really popular these days though including matcha, black sesame and red bean though. So what's on offer at Dulcet Cakes and Sweets?

I really was looking forward to the matcha ice cream ($10.80, take away only) with golden leaf. The ice cream is soft serve style, creamy and strong in matcha flavour. The golden leaf didn't really have a taste but was more there for aesthetics. I smack my lips as I savour the soft serve flavours in my mouth. Delicious and definitely one to try.

I also order some drinks including the Black Sesame Latte ($7) which is a cold, milky and sweet drink with Black Sesame flavours. I really like Black Sesame and enjoy the dish. I was hoping the drink would be warm but it's a cold icey drink. It was still nice to drink. There's also the Rose Milk Tea ($7) which is also a cold drink and is more milky in flavour with light rose flavours.

If you are feeling adventurous then why not try the Durian Millie Crepe Cake ($12.80). There's layers of thinly made crepes with quite a strong Durian Flavour. Matt's never had durian before and is very curious. I'm not a Durian fan to be honest. It turns out Matt is not a fan either! However if you like Durians then i'm sure you'll enjoy this one. The texture of the crepes are really nice and light.

My favourite cake is the Hokkaido Double Cheesecake ($8.50) which has a nice thick layer of cream cheese and a matcha layer. It's quite well balanced and not too dense. This is one to try if you like cheesecake.

There's the Heart of Black Currant Lychee Mousse ($9.50)  and Caramel Bear Mousse ($9.50) which has pear and black currant. These two cakes are glistening on the outside. Matt eats into the big heart and you can see the layers below of Black Currant, lychee mousse and a minor thin layer of sponge cake at the bottom. The mousse is subtly sweet and is not as sweet as Western desserts. It's nice and soft.

The bear has a thick caramel mousse which again is not as sweet with a pear centre and a black currant bottom with a thin biscuit.

Summary: If you like cute looking desserts that are not as sweet then why not check out Dulcet Cakes and Sweets in Burwood. My favourite was the matcha ice cream with the golden leaf. It was very enjoyable to eat.
